Private Lessons

Whether you are an experienced player looking for a new perspective or have never touched an instrument before, I can tailor lessons to your needs. Each student is a unique person and musician requiring a method that will suit their needs, strengths, challenges, and goals. I teach classical violin as well as folk and fiddle styles in a combination of music reading and rote learning. In addition to violin, I also teach viola. I believe that any instrumental music education should include creative work like composition, improvisation, or arranging.

Whether you are preparing for an audition, rehearsing parts for your school orchestra, wanting to expand your repertoire or technique, or would just like to experience some music in your spare time, I can help you meet your goals. 

 

Lessons are taught in my comfortable home studio in Ann Arbor or digitally through Zoom. Depending upon a student's age and experience level different length and frequency of lessons are offered.

 

Rates for common options are as follows:

 

Half hour lesson, once a week: $30 per lesson

Half hour lesson, twice a week: $25 per lesson

Hour lesson, once a week: $50 per lesson

Hour lesson, twice a week: $45 per lesson

 

Instruments:

 

Students should have an instrument in good working order.

 

If you do not have an instrument yet (if you are a beginning student, for example) I am happy to recommend shops to purchase or rent from and help you pick out the correct size and level of instrument for you. 

 

Recitals and performances: 

For local students performance recitals are arranged twice per year.
